Amy Calvo MacNamara | A Natural Educator

Attorney MacNamara handles all aspects of matrimonial and family law matters, including cases which involve significant assets, executive compensation, child custody issues, substance abuse issues, and mental health issues. She has been worked exclusively in the area of family and matrimonial law since 2009 and has extensive experience litigating, settling, and mediating cases.

Preparation, effective communication, persistence and practicality are the cornerstones of Attorney MacNamara’s practice. She takes a firm yet compassionate approach to the field of family law, and works diligently to understand the individual issues raised in each case.

Qualification

Attorney MacNamara received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Fordham University at Lincoln Center where she double majored in Classics and History with a minor in World Religions. She earned her J.D., cum laude, from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where she earned an Academic Concentration, with honors, in Family and Juvenile Law. She is certified to act as a Guardian ad Litem and Attorney for Minor Children, and has completed intensive training at the prestigious Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute. She has also completed extensive and focused trainings in the fields of domestic violence and mediation.

A natural educator, Attorney MacNamara frequently lectures and presents on the field of family law. She currently co-chairs the Pandemic Recovery Future of Court Technology Committee for the Connecticut Bar Association. She also serves as the CBA’s representative to the Child Support Guidelines Commission. In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Attorney MacNamara was serving as Chairwoman of the statewide Family Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. In an unprecedented move, she was asked to serve an additional term in this role by Special Election. During her chairwomanship, she worked closely with the Judicial Branch, the bar, and other interested parties as they navigated the lengthy crisis period. She also previously served as co-chair of the Family Law Section of the Fairfield County Bar Association from 2012 to 2020. She currently sits on the Fairfield County Bar Association Board of Directors.

Attorney MacNamara is the 2021 recipient of the John Eldred Shields Distinguished Professional Service Award. She has been included in The Best Lawyers in America* from 2016-2022 in the field of Family Law, has been recognized by SuperLawyers* every year since 2012, and has an Avoo rating of 10.0.

Finally, Amy is a proud supporter of the arts. In her personal time, she enjoys the New York museum culture, cooking Italian meals for her loved ones and traveling with her family.
